Mike has been a Florida Gator since 1983. He received a B.S. in Microbiology and Cell Science from the University of Florida. Mike has 29 years of basic science research experience spending most of that time studying the role of leptin in central regulation of food consumption and energy expenditure. He crossed over into the field of muscle biology in 2015. He is an outdoor enthusiast who loves gardening, cooking, and sharing wine with good friends.

Spencer has been a member of the core since fall of 2021. He graduated from Flagler College in 2019 with his bachelors in Coastal Environmental Science, and is excited about his contributions to the work being done here at the University of Florida. When he is not in the lab Spencer enjoys exploring museums, parks, and local breweries around Gainesville.
